CCIP
provides smart contract developers with a generalized, compute-enabled infrastructure for transferring data and commands across blockchain networks. CCIP will fit into the wider off-chain middleware infrastructure that Chainlink have been building since 2017 and will take advantage of pre-existing innovations including off-chain reporting (OCR) and Decentralised Oracle Networks (DONS). [2]
